If you've ever been to a bar in Whistler, you're probably well aware of the disproportionate ratio of men to women. Well, this week ladies can head out for an evening of women-only partying until 12:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, Jan. 28 the GLC plays host to the annual Pink Taco Party, an evening tailored to a female crowd. Guests must wear pink, and the $15 entry fee includes an all-you-can-eat Mexican-style buffet (which, of course, includes tacos). Vancouver's own DJ Dickee Doo teams up with local DJ Foxy Moron (a.k.a. Ace Mackay) to provide the tunes for the evening, and Whistler's favourite artist, Chili Thom, supplies the décor.
It sounds like there will be plenty of opportunities to get pampered at the party, with Get Nailed doing mini manicures and Lily Cosmetics providing mini makeup applications. Photographer Rich Glass will also be on-hand to document the evening with a "buddy picture" booth, and of course, don't forget the shopping, chocolate and cheap drinks!
There's also going to be a draw for loads of great prizes from local businesses - Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Evolution, Lush, Farfalla, Get Nailed, Canadian Snowmobiles, Lily Cosmetics Boutique, Vanity, X-Rated Fusion Liqour, Beach or Bust, Rock 101, and Comor Sports, to name a few.
Sharai Rewels is coordinating the event, which has been held for five years running and attracts visitors from Seattle, Vancouver, and throughout the Sea to Sky region.
Fun might be the name of the game, but the party is also for a good cause - all proceeds from the draw go to the Howe Sound Women's Centre, an organization that supports safe homes, transition homes, and support services for women in need throughout the Sea to Sky corridor.
