During the weeks of February 23 rd to March 5 th , a group of community volunteers led by the Whistler Housing Authority and Terra Housing will be conducting a telephone survey of 2,500 single family and duplex Whistler residences. The purpose of the survey is to take stock of the actual housing available to our resident workforce and to monitor changes in the supply and demand of resident housing. The information gathered will be treated as confidential and will be used for the research associated with this survey only.
We are aware that as Whistler approaches build-out and continues to gain prominence as a world class ski resort and tourism destination, the cost of owning and maintaining a home in Whistler is rising dramatically. Accordingly, the options for suitable and affordable housing within the community are diminishing, and as a result, more and more employees are living outside the municipality.
Our resident population and workforce have shaped Whistler into the vibrant and dynamic community that it is today. This survey research is vital in that it will provide information with which the Whistler Housing Authority and the Resort Municipality of Whistler can make planning decisions that help to preserve our existing housing stock and create appropriate housing for Whistler's residents.
Whether you live in Whistler on a permanent or part-time basis, your participation in our survey is needed to facilitate this important research. The survey questions are very simple and should not take more than a few minutes of your time to answer. If you will not be available to complete the telephone survey next week, please complete the (mailed) survey... and fax it to the Whistler Housing Authority at: 604-932-4461 or you can contact the Whistler Housing Authority at: 604-905-4688 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and... staff will be able to assist you. In addition, if you are interested in volunteering your time to assist with this survey, please contact the Whistler Housing Authority.
This is research for all of us. We urge you to take the time to speak with the survey research team and thank you in advance for you participation.
