The RCMP responded to a complaint of suspicious activity on Tuesday, when a male and female were observed in a vehicle on Blackcomb Way, south of Village Gate Boulevard, handling what appeared to be a 9 mm handgun.
Members of the RCMP attended the scene and apprehended a 36-year-old male from Coquitlam on foot near the vehicle. They also arrested the 23-year-old female passenger.
After an initial search the RCMP discovered a BB gun, an extendible baton and pepper spray, as well as drugs and paraphernalia. More importantly, they discovered that the man was wanted in connection with multiple warrants from the Lower Mainland. Other items found in the vehicle indicate the man and woman may be responsible for various thefts and frauds throughout the Sea to Sky corridor.
The couple are being held in police custody, and will be identified once changes have been laid.
Meanwhile, the Whistler-Pemberton RCMP were moderately busy again last weekend. They attended seven noisy parties, issued six tickets for "possession of open liquor" in Whistler Village, and arrested one individual for over intoxication in the village.
Police also responded to five motor vehicle accidents. One accident involving two vehicles resulted in minor injuries to both drivers, who were taken to Whistler Medical Clinic for treatment. Alcohol was a factor in the accident and a 32-year-old male from Vancouver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition.
During regular patrols, police also issued three other 24-hour driving prohibitions, two of which were for drugs.
