Lynn Maksymchak has been appointed vice principal of Whistler Secondary – A Community School, effective July 1. Maksymchak is currently head of the Mathematics Department at Nechako Valley Secondary School, where she has taught for six years. As vice principal Maksymchak will be working with principal Rick Smith. The new school will open in September. Maksymchak has taught for the past 16 years and has been head of a mathematics department for the past eight years. She has taught in England, Manitoba and British Columbia. Maksymchak holds a Bachelor of Education and teaching certificate from Loughborough University in England. She is currently completing her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Northern British Columbia. In addition to mathematics, Maksymchak has also taught science and English at the secondary level. Maksymchak, her husband Tony and their three children will be moving to the district some time this summer.
