Vancouver man who worked in community theatre faces sex charges

A 25-year-old Vancouver man who worked with several theatre groups, including one in Squamish, has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation involving people under 18.

Ryan Mooney was arrested July 12 by Squamish RCMP. He appeared in North Vancouver Provincial Court Thursday, July 13 facing a total of five counts. He was later released on bail.

Squamish RCMP say they received a complaint in mid-June and began an investigation into allegations of incidents that occurred in the first three months of 2006.

Due to the nature of the allegations a publication ban with respect to the identity of the victims is in place.

Police say Mooney worked with a Lower Mainland-based company that focused on dramatic and artistic productions involving school-aged children throughout B.C.

The RCMP investigation is continuing and police are exploring the possibility that there might be other victims in relations to these alleged offenses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100.

Squamish man gets year in jail

A Squamish man was sentenced this week to one year in jail and one year probation in relation to last year’s theft from an automatic teller machine at Deer Lodge in Whistler.

Shawn D. Lundrigan was arrested Aug. 17, 2005, four months after the ATM theft, on outstanding warrants for a number of different and unrelated charges. While in custody it was determined that Lundrigan had been identified as a suspect in the ATM theft.
