Toastmasters Club celebrates first anniversary

To celebrate its first anniversary the Mountain Spirit Whistler Toastmasters Club is hosting a free speech writing workshop.

The workshop is for anyone looking to learn more about speech writing and giving more effective speech presentations. It starts at 5:30 p.m. and takes place in council chambers at Municipal Hall on Feb. 11.

The Toastmasters Club began last January and was chartered in April 2003. At present the Whistler club has 20 dedicated members who meet once a week for 1.5 hours. Members learn how to speak in front of club members, who offer constructive feedback on all presentations.

"Besides learning about speech writing, Toastmasters has helped me to assess my own presentations as well as others," said Emma DalSanto, president of the Whistler Toastmasters Club.

To register for the free workshop call Helene Steiner at: 604-938-3519 or Emma DalSanto at 604-935-8517 or register by e-mail at
