Local theatre groups Short Skirt Theatre and Between Shifts have announced the upcoming stage production Famous Movie Monologues of Love and Lust and are calling for, well, famous movie monologues of love and lust.
Think Hugh Grants rainsoaked declaration that he would always never want to marry Andie MacDowell at the end of Four Weddings and a Funeral ... think Meg Ryans demonstration of the art of orgasm faking over a light lunch in When Harry Met Sally ... the possibilities are endless.
Famous Movie Monologues will have a two show run in Whistler and Squamish, Feb. 11 & 12, 2005.
A grant from the Whistler Arts Council is allowing the producers to hire a Vancouver-based professional director to work one on one with the 15 selected performers. Those selected will have to commit to three one-hour rehearsals with the director.
Auditions will take place in early December. Pieces should be no longer than four minutes.
And organizers are insisting on Famous Movie Monologues only. This is not the time to demonstrate your depth of knowledge in the obscure.

Famous Movie Monologues of Love and Lust should not be confused with the upcoming cabaret show of film, television and musical comedy scenes announced last week by Bushwoman Productions.
Short Skirt is the fun loving bunch behind the annual Whistler Pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty , which begins a four show run Nov. 18.
Also in the theatre this week: Hardworking local kids perform in this years Missoula Childrens Theatre musical production of Hansel and Gretel . There will be two shows tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 16) at 3 and 7 p.m. Admission by donation.
