The King of the Rails allows you to show off your style and moves on terrain park rails. Get ready to watch some grabs and flips and spins as riders and skiers take the talent to a whole new level. Will you be crowned king? Competition starts at 6 p.m. on Sat. Dec. 27 under the Magic Chair at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Ring in the New Year Whistler style at First Night, the annual alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration of arts and entertainment. Check out the street performers, fire dancers, comedians and live music in the village on the evening on Wed. Dec. 31. Get tickets in advance at Municipal Hall, the Whistler Chamber of Commerce and the Meadow Park Sports Centre or on-site during the event. Tix are $15. Kids 12 and under are $5.
MUSIC FROM PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND>>
The newest fiddling sensation out of PEI, 18-year-old Cynthia MacLeod, will get your toes a tappin' at MY Place along with guitar-singing vocalist Gordon Belsher. The duo will play on Sat. Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. They will play a variety of traditional and original songs. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors.
