ALTITUDE X. The 10 th annual gay and lesbian ski week in Whistler runs from Feb. 3 to 10. The Westin Resort and Spa is headquarters for this year’s festival, but there will be special events at the conference centre, Meadow Park Sports Centre and on the mountains.

WHISTLER’S LEGACY OF ART. Artists who frequented the Whistler Farmers’ Market last summer will be showing their work at Millennium Place Saturday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their vision is to portray Whistler’s culture and achievement with a special focus on the town’s beginnings and artists’ legacy for the future.

DAVID LANGEVIN. A reception at the adele-campbell Fine Art Gallery for painter David Langevin will be held Feb. 9, from 5 to 9 p.m.

RITA COSTANZI. Harp soloist performs at Maurice Young Millennium Place Feb. 9, 8 p.m.

CANCER GROUP X COUNTRY SKI. Join the Cancer Support and Friends group for an afternoon of cross country skiing, hot drinks by the fire and a potluck lunch on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. Rides available from Whistler. All welcome. Call Joanne Turner at 604-938-1902 for information.

VALENTINE SUNDAY BRUNCH. Hearts and Heritage is the theme for this Sunday brunch at the Westin. Guests will see sights of weddings past and not so far past at this event, which is a fund-raiser for the Whistler Museum and Archives. Brunch will be served at 11 a.m. Feb. 17. Cost is $47, which includes a $20 donation to the museum’s operating funds.

SUN SALUTE-ATHON . Mind-Body Fitness and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler present the second annual Whistler Sun Salute-Athon Feb. 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Chateau. Proceeds to Whistler’s Food Bank, Crisis Line, KidSport, Re-Use-It Centre and other programs run by Whistler Community Services Society. A Sun Salute is a series of moves co-ordinated with the breath that is used as the initial warm-up in most forms of yoga. Call 604-905-4777 for details.

JANINE BENYUS, SUSTAINABILITY SPEAKER. Biomimicry — Lessons from Nature is the subject of Benyus’ presentation, the fourth in the sustainability series. At Maurice Young Millennium Place, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

OLIVER IS A SISSY. A dance musical with a message. At Maurice Young Millennium Place Feb. 22.

DUAL MOUNTAIN RALLY. A fund-raiser for the B.C. Rehab Foundation. Teams of four ski or board both mountains on Feb. 23, stopping at check points. Call 604-737-6383 for information.


WHISTLER COUNCIL MEETING. Council chooses a consulting team to prepare the Comprehensive Sustainability plan, at municipal hall Feb. 11, at 9:30 a.m.
