HOWE SOUND PERFORMING ARTS ASSOC. STAR SEARCH. The ninth annual Star Search takes place Friday, June 8 at 8 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish.

ART ON THE LAKE. The first of a series of monthly showcases for local artists takes place June 10, 1-5 p.m. at the Edgewater Outdoor Centre on Green Lake.

SUMMER SOLSTICE. A festival of world music presented by Tourism Whistler, June 16-17. Ticketed and free concerts.

GRAND OPENING OF MILLENNIUM PLACE. June 17.

ALTA LAKE FISHING DERBY. Hosted by the Whistler Angling Club, derby headquarters are at Lakeside Park. Derby starts at 9 a.m. on June 17. Proceeds go toward local lake and stream enhancement projects.

CHAKRA’S. Farfalla Hair and Body Spa’s third annual fund-raising hair and fashion show will be June 18 at AlpenRock. Proceeds to Camp Moomba, for children living with HIV/AIDS.

WHISTLER ARTS EXPERIENCE. A week-long celebration of the arts July 2-7, including Artrageous on July 6.

ALTA LAKE SCHOOL. Pre-registration for fall enrollment at the Alta Lake School starts June 16. Registration forms for pre-school, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 to Grade 4 will be available at the Open House, Saturday, June 16 at the School (5516 Alta Lake Road) from 10 am to 2 p.m. Please bring your child's birth certificate. Deadline for early registration rate is August 1. Limited spaces available. The Alta Lake School offers Waldorf-inspired education for children aged 3-9 years (by April 30, 2001). AWARE MONTHLY MEETING. Speakers include David Allen of the SLRD, Christina Symco on the River of Golden Dreams and Wetland Keepers Allana Hamm and Wendy Horan. June 7, 7 p.m.

MOVING CHORDS CHORUS SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. Moving Chords Chorus Society, a non-profit society supporting children’s and youth’s choirs in the Sea to Sky corridor, will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Squamish Baptist Church, 2262 Read Crescent. The financial report and the proposed budget for 2001-02 will be presented and two directors will be elected.
