TELUS WORLD SKI AND SNOWBOARD FESTIVAL . Annual festival of ski and snowboard competitions, photographer showdowns, mountain adventure films, concerts, parties and anything else that’s legal on snow. April 13-22.

EARTH DAY . April 22.

WHISTLER MUSEUM & ARCHIVES SPRING BRUNCH . The first edition of what will become an annual fund-raiser for the museum will be held at Joel’s at Nicklaus North April 22 at 11 a.m. In addition to brunch, the fun includes live entertainment, a Chinese auction and guest speaker Florence Petersen who will talk about Whistler B.S. (Before Skiing). Tickets are $50, available from the museum.

FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE . The eighth annual Father-Daughter Dance takes place Sunday, April 22 at the Chateau Whistler, 5-8:30 p.m. Proceeds from the evening, which is attended by 500 fathers and daughters, go towards the Whistler Children’s Centra and the computer program at Myrtle Philip school.

BLACK BEAR SLIDE PRESENTATION . Local bear researcher Michael Allen presents the first of a monthly series of slide shows on Whistler’s black bears. April 24, 7 p.m. at the Chateau Whistler.

WHISTLER SINGERS CONCERT . April 25, 7:30 p.m. at Myrtle Philip school. Tickets are $5.

NHL ALUMNI HOCKEY GAME . April 28, 7 p.m. at Meadow Park Arena.

WHISTLER INTERNATIONAL WINE FESTIVAL. The annual festival, now in its 11 th year, is a fund-raising event for the Whistler Public Library. Wines presented by International Cellars Inc., with the support of the Consulates of Spain, the United States, Chile and France. Tuesday, May 8, 7-9 p.m. at the Chateau Whistler. Tickets are $25, available at the library, the conference centre and at the door.

GIANT GARAGE SALE. Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Myrtle Philip school. A fund-raiser for the Parent Advisory Council. Tables are $30. Contact Sana March at 932-2016 or Karen Williamson at 932-1181.

MEETINGS/WORKSHOPS

THE FUTURE OF WHISTLER. This symposium, organized by the board of directors of Tourism Whistler, focuses on the theme of Whistler’s competitiveness and economic sustainability. In particular, two key components of perceived value for guests – price and service – will be discussed. Open to all those who own or manage property or businesses in Whistler. April 21, 3-6 p.m. in the Whistler Conference Centre.

WHISTLER SECONDARY PAC MEEETING. Monday, April 23, 7 p.m. at Whistler Secondary.

SCREENING MAMOGRAPHY. Coming to Whistler May 30, 31 and June 1; to Squamish May 7-11 and May 14-18; and to Pemberton May 28, 29.
