Tenth annual Allstar Hockey Tournament kicks off next week

It’s a massive undertaking – an international youth tournament spread out over more than three weeks, featuring teams from as far away as California and Quebec.

The Whistler International Allstar Hockey Tournament gets underway on June 27 at Meadow Park Arena, and runs until July 21.

This tournament brings together elite young players who have made a strong commitment to their sport. The Major Peewee also brings out the scouts from WHL and junior teams who are looking for the next generation of hockey talent.

The tournament is broken down into several smaller tournaments for the different age groups.

The Bantam Major teams for kids born in 1988 play from June 29 to July 1.

Novice Major (1994) runs from July 2 to 4, Atom Minor (1993) runs July 4 to 6, Atom Major (1992) runs July 6 to 8, Peewee Minor (1991) runs July 9 to 11, Peewee Major (1990) runs July 12 to July 14, Bantam Minor (1989) runs July 15 to 17, and Senior boys (1987 to 1984) runs July 17 to 19.

Stan Smyl’s Whistler Hockey School runs shortly after the tournament, with the first camp taking place from July 27 to Aug. 2.
