Super G brings out fast crowd

Some 70 skiers and boarders turned out to the first Kokanee Valley Race Series super G of the season on Jan. 10, the third event on the series’ 10-stop calendar.

It was overcast on the Upper Dave Murray, but for the more serious racers, the course was both hard and fast enough to post some excellent times.

Jamie Finlayson, a 21-year-old FIS skier, posted the fastest time of the day in one minute 14.30 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of the next best time.

The top female was ex-FIS skier Kim McKnight with a time of 1:22.96. Scott Gillis was the top snowboarder in 1:39.29.
