Spring conditions for only slalom of Kokanee series

comment

The technical specs of last Thursday’s Kokanee Valley Race Series slalom says it all – Temperature: One degree Celsius; Weather: Perfect.

More than 50 racers turned out to enjoy the spring skiing conditions on Feb. 12 in a slalom on the Upper Dave Murray Course. It was the fifth of eight events on the calendar, and the only slalom race.

While the numbers were down compared to the last race, there was still some strong competition in the different categories. In the men’s 40 to 49 race, Alain Rey edged out Don McQuaid by just 0.05 seconds. Jacque Robichaud was 0.07 seconds ahead of Butch White in the 50 to 59 race.

Tom Jackson won the draw prize for a pair of Atomic skis.

The next race, on Feb. 26, is a giant slalom on Whistler. You can register in advance at any Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations office or Ski School Sales location or on the day of the race in the Dave Murray Video Centre until 10 a.m.
