What: PEMBERTON SECONDARY SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE Pemberton Secondary hosts an open house that will showcase student artwork and art workshops. There’ll be a fashion show, First Nation presentations, sports and athletics too.

What: COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN TROUBLED ECONOMIC TIMES Whistler2020 and the Whistler Centre for Sustainability present a discussion and panel discussion led by Goran Carstedt, former CEO of Ikea and Volvo. Carstedt is a lead for the Society for Organizational Learning Global Network.

What: THE CELLIST OF SARAJEVO: A READING BY STEVEN GALLOWAY BC author Steven Gallowy reads from his critically-acclaimed novel, which was nominated for the 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize.

What: PAUL PAQUETTE – RECENT WORK The Adele Campbell Fine Art Gallery presents an exhibition with bold, textured oil paintings as part of its Winter Exhibition Season. This exhibit takes place at the Hilton Resort and Spa.

What: WHISTLER ENTREPRENEURS’ CLUB MEETING The Whistler Entrepreneurs’ Club is having its montyly meeting. It’ll be a networkign session with one or more speakers and focus on the theme of how technology can enhance your business.

What: FUNDAMENTALS OF BOOKKEEPING The Whistler Chamber of Commerce presents a course on bookkeeping for people with no experience and for those who need a refresher on the basics. Cost is $150 for members, $199 for non-members. GST not included.

What: MANAGING MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE The Whistler Chamber of Commerce presents a workshop about mental health in the workplace. It’ll show how to identify mental health issues such as distress and burnout. Cost $15 for members, $25 for non-members. GST not included.

What: UNDERSTANDING HURRICANE KATRINA Eric Gorham, coordinator of social sciences at Quest University, presents a lecture on the causes and consequences of Hurricane Katrina. Admission by Donation.

What: TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER SESSION This is a workshop presented by Service Canada and Citizenship and Immigration Canada that will answer important questions for anyone who needs foreign workers for the next season or for the Olympics and Paralympics.

What: 2010 BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WORKSHOP Rob Arthurs, manager of business opportunities with the 2010 Commerce Centre, will tell you how to identify 2010 procurement opportunities, how to respond to bid opportunities and how to create successful bids.
