What: icon gone Whistler’s favourite leaders and agitators will parry onstage in a verbal gladiator match that will pit them against each other in a competition over Whistler’s greatest icon. Cheer them on and make sure your favourite icon wins! The night will be presented in conjunction with the Whistler Museum’s Master Plan Open House. This is a free event.

When: Thursday January 11, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

What: luna jam lounge Calling all musicians, singers, poets, MCs, hand drummers, dancers and music lovers. Check out the second monthly Jam Lounge to share ideas, learn how to play, meet musicians and prep for Battle of the Bands. BYO instruments or use those provided. $5/$3 entry.

What: FIRE and ICE? ICE Competition The ten young semi finalists from this weekend’s Next Snow Search will show off their moves at the Fire and Ice show at the base of the mountains. The competitors, who are between 9-13 years old, will jump to determine the winners.

What: the fish detective The Whistler Naturalists start their 2007 Speaker Series with longtime local Eric Crowe who has studied the history of fish in the local lakes and rivers. Hear his suprising conclusions. Admission is by donation. For details contact Bob Brett at 604-932-8900.

What: DANIEL BOLSHOY As a classical guitarist, Daniel Bolshoy has performed in festivals across the country. His recitals are regularly broadcast on CBC radio where he is praised as both a solo and chamber music performer. Tickets for the event are $22/$19. Call 604-935-8410 for information.
