Whistler RCMP is on the lookout for a male who was exposing himself in the area of Alpine Way and Rainbow Drive on March 22 — a similar incident to one that was reported March 3 when a man was masturbating near Olympic Plaza.
RCMP R. Const. Steve LeClair said observers on Facebook on March 22 posted details of the sightings of the suspect, who is described as being tall and lanky, possibly 5'10" to six feet (183 centimetres) in height and wearing a dark jacket and white ball cap with writing on the front. Police are attempting to acquire area video surveillance for further investigation.
On March 21, police report that two businesses — one at the Nesters shopping area and one in Function Junction — were broken into 16 minutes apart at just after 7 p.m. The one at the Nesters location had the front-door window smashed and the cash register with some money it in was stolen. Nothing was taken from the Function business.
VEHICLE AND SLED THEFTS
A 2014 Toyota Tundra complete with a sled deck and a black and yellow Ski-Doo was stolen while parked at 2500 Whistler Road on March 17. Four days later, the vehicle was spotted in Day Lot 4 as two suspects were observed attempting to steal another snowmobile. The suspects got into the vehicle and sped away, ran through a stop sign at Lorimer Road, drove over a median and continued on at high speed. Police did not give chase, citing concerns for public safety.
Police received reports of the theft of a 2008 black Ford F-150 truck from an automotive shop in Function Junction. The truck had been left for work to be done, and the theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Saturday, March 18 and 8 a.m. Monday, March 20. The vehicle was found March 22 in Vancouver, where it is undergoing examination for fingerprints.
PROMISES TO APPEAR
On March 24, a vehicle was stopped at a Pemberton checkpoint. A passenger in the vehicle was allegedly found to have a digital scale, with six grams of marijuana residue in plastic bags, and 80g of marijuana bud. A 38-year-old D'Arcy man faces charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
On March 25, two men in an SUV were stopped at a Highway 99 checkpoint when five cell phones, 20g of marijuana, extensive marijuana smoking paraphernalia and a pellet gun were found. A 29-year-old male and 31-year-old male — both from Coquitlam — are scheduled to appear in court in Pemberton in May.
The next day, officers on foot patrol arrested 30-year-old North Vancouver male for alleged possession of half a gram of cocaine and .08g of hash oil. The man faces a May 31 court date in North Vancouver.
DRIVING WHILE IMPAIRED
On March 26, a driver on Blackcomb Way was observed with non-stop flashing lights and the vehicle horn honking. Once stopped, the male was arrested for impaired driving and failure to stop for police. A 56-year-old Whistler man faces criminal charges. It was determined the suspect was too drunk to turn off the car-alarm feature on the car.
Again on March 26 in the early morning, an officer in the RCMP parking lot responded to a commotion and a vehicle blocking access to the lot. As a female driver tried to drive off — with the driver's side door open and a passenger not yet seated in the car — the officer stopped the vehicle. A 24-year-old Delta female was served with a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle impounded.
