Search and Rescue fundraiser ‘Wine’d Up’

Five course dinner, auction, raffle to benefit Whistler Search and Rescue Team

If you get lost anywhere in the Whistler area, as one Simon Fraser professor discovered a few weeks ago, you can count on volunteers from the Whistler Search and Rescue Team to work night and day to find you.

To help our Search and Rescue volunteers get the proper training and equipment, the Whistler Search and Rescue Society is hosting its fifth annual fundraising dinner on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Dusty’s in Creekside.

This year’s event, dubbed the "Wine’d Up", will include a five course meal prepared by Chef Bernard Casavant and paired with wines by Robert Mondavi. The event is supported by the U.S. Consulate and Whistler-Blackcomb, and more volunteers from Whistler Search and Rescue will be helping Chef Bernard in the kitchen.

The selection of Robert Mondavi wines includes a Private Selection 2003 Johannisberg Riesling, a 2002 Napa Valley Fume Blanc, a Private Selection 2002 Pinot Noir, a 2000 Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon, and a 2003 Moscato d’Oro.

In addition to the food and wine, the event includes a silent auction with a list of prizes that includes dinners, outdoor activities, accommodation, books, and more, including a lunch tour of Robert Mondavi’s Napa Valley Winery.

There will also be a pre-event raffle that anyone can take part in with a list of prizes that includes tickets to the dinner with limo service, a basket prepared by Chef Bernard, and a Robert Mondavi Winery Decanter and Gift Baskets. Tickets are three for $5, and are available from Whistler Search and Rescue volunteers.

Tickets to the dinner are available for $135 per person from Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations at 604-932-3434.
