As the fast-paced winter season wraps up for another year its time for all Whistler employees to give themselves a pat on the back.
Like every ski season before it, winter 2002/03 was fun-filled, action-packed and extremely busy for all of the resorts workers who keep this town ticking for the tourists.
In recognition of the all their hard work, council has declared next week, April 21-27, Employee Recognition Week.
"We hope that through this proclamation, employers resort wide will take the time to recognize the contribution of employees and in doing so contribute meaningfully to the social sustainability of Whistler," Chamber of Commerce President Brent Leigh wrote in a letter to council.
In the middle of Employee Recognition Week the chamber and one of their key sponsors, American Express, are hosting a Gala Recognition Dinner for about 100 employees.
These chosen employees have been nominated for their hard work and dedication to the job over the season.
One of the 100 to be recognized is Allie Roscoe, the front desk manager for the Riverside RV Resort and Campground.
"I love my job and its just great to be recognized," said Roscoe, a 29-year-old newly-wed who originally hails from West Vancouver.
Roscoe has been working at the campground since before it opened three and a half years ago. In that time she has thrown in her hand to help with housekeeping and maintenance before landing the position as the front desk manager.
"Im really honoured to be nominated."
All of the nominees are invited to the Gala dinner at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. They will be presented with a certificate and a gift at the dinner.
