JEWISH HOLIDAY CELEBRATION. All are welcome to come and celebrate the holiday of Sukkot with the Jewish Community of Whistler on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at MY Place. Festivities will consist of a short service and story, decorating of the Sukkah, and a pot-luck dinner. HARVEST HUCKFEST. A year-end celebration of mountain biking, featuring a slopestyle jump demo, max vert enduro, cruiser bike ride, ride with the stars and the premier of Disorder II: Fat Tire Fury. Takes place Oct. 5-7 at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Garfinkel?s and Rainbow Theatre.
WHISTLER MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB SWAP. The annual ski swap takes place over the Thanksgiving weekend, Oct. 5-8, at the Blackcomb daylodge.
APPY WARS. The Puppy Zone and Whistler Cooking School host this Oct. 6 event, with proceeds going to CARDA. Appetizers from some of Whistler?s best restaurants will be available for tasting and judging. Tastings are between 4 and 8 p.m.
PETERS DRURY TRIO . Jazz trio from Whitehorse, Yukon, at Maurice Young Millennium Place in Whistler on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. and in Squamish, at the Eagle Eye Theatre at Howe Sound Secondary on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and students.
THANKSGIVING SKATE AND SWIM . Sunday, Oct. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Meadow Park Sports Centre.
LUMPY?S EPIC TRAIL RUN . 10 km and 3 km routes for this fourth annual run Sunday, Oct. 7. Registration at 8:30 a.m. at One Mile Lake parking lot, 2 km south of Pemberton. Run starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds go to Signal Hill elementary cross-country running team.
BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS DUCK RACE . Thanksgiving Day, Monday, Oct. 8. The annual fund-raiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Whistler and Pemberton takes place on Fitzsimmons Creek. All funds go to support the agency?s programs and matches. Tickets are for sale every weekend on the Fitzsimmons Creek bridge, and during regular business hours from Windermere Sea to Sky Realty, the North Shore Credit Union and Scotiabank in Pemberton.
OKTOBERFEST . A Whistler tradition returns with beer, bratwurst, beer, oom-pah-pah music, pretzels, beer? and a root beer garden. A parade from Marketplace to Village Square kicks off the Oct. 12-14 festival. The conference centre is turned into a Bavarian beer hall for the weekend.
