Vancouver's Jason Priestley's bittersweet road movie starring Richard Dreyfuss and Tatiana Maslany has already gained a lot of attention in the run-up to the festival. Dreyfuss plays a terminally ill doctor and Maslany the hitchhiker who comes along for the ride.

A look at the Canadian pro-marijuana activist Marc Emery, who is now serving five years in an American jail for selling pot seeds by mail to Americans. He is shown to be an egocentric, Ayn Randian capitalist, but his extradition to the U.S. through complicity between both nations' authorities asks serious questions about Canada's sovereignty.

Twice Oscar-nominated documentary director Lucy Walker tells the story of seriously injured world-class snowboarder Kevin Pearce, who suffered a debilitating head injury in a training accident in 2008.
