The third annual Pro Photographer Search is taking place in Whistler April 16-17 as part of the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival.
The winner of the search will earn the wildcard seat at the prestigious International Pro Photographer Showdown, where their work will be shown beside four of the top photographers in the world.
The Pro Photographer Search is an opportunity for six talented photographers to show their work in Whistler during the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival, says Catherine Yates, multimedia events producer. The Pro Photographer events, a cornerstone of WSSF, attract significant attention from major magazines, the ski and snowboard industry, stock agencies, athletes and the public, and are credited with launching the careers of a number of past entrants.
To enter the Search, action sport photographers are invited to submit a slide page of 20 images for consideration. Six finalists will be chosen to present as many images as they like within 12 minutes at one of two public screenings, April 16 and 17. The Best of Show, chosen by a panel of judges, will go on to compete April 19 at the Showdown, deemed the Sundance Film Festival of still photos by Transworld Media.
The Pro Photographer Search was developed three years ago to provide a unique venue for both experienced and emerging photographers to present their work, says Yates. Its a huge opportunity for the photographers who get chosen to present. Their slide shows are professionally produced, accompanied by the photographers choice of music and presented before a sold-out crowd."
The deadline for Search entries is March 5 at 5 p.m. Entries and inquiries should be directed to: Catherine Yates, Multimedia Events Producer, Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival, Suite 304, 4204 Village Square, Whistler, B.C., V0N 1B4.
