Or how to help your pet after a nasty run-in with a skunk or a porcupine?
Well St, Johns Ambulance has the answer.
On Oct 2 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. the organization will host a pet first aid course.
It will cost $43 plus GST and will include a manual to take home. (Lets hope the dog doesnt eat this homework!)
The course will provide you with the knowledge, judgement, and skills needed to respond safely and effectively in an emergency.
Participants will learn about disease prevention, basic safety, emergency scene management, unconsciousness, artificial respiration and airway obstruction choking, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and shock.
Other topics include vomiting, dehydration, poisoning, seizures, bloating, constipation, feline cystitis, diarrhoea, spinal injuries, bone and joint injuries, infections, delivering puppies or kittens, fights and bites, rabies, burns, heat and cold injuries, insect stings, spider bites, fish hooks, eye injuries, ear injuries, nosebleeds, porcupine quills, skunk spray, and parasites.
