It’s official – Pemberton will host a music festival this summer, with massive headlining acts, including Coldplay, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Jay-Z, Nine Inch Nails.
The event, officially dubbed Pemberton Festival, will be produced by Live Nation, an international music events company, and is scheduled to take place at the Ravens Crest property in Area C of the SLRD from July 25-27.
There are also many Canadian bands on the line-up: The Tragically Hip, Wintersleep, Metric, Buck 65, Sam Roberts Band, and Black Mountain, to name a few.
Shane Bourbonnais, president of North American Touring and Business Development for Live Nation, made the announcement Thursday evening at the Big Sky Golf and Country Club in Pemberton, stressing the event will be safe, fun and sustainable.
Camping facilities, RV park and shuttle service to and from Whistler will be available for concert goers.
Rumours of the event first surfaced in late fall, when Bourbonnais held a meeting with local government officials at the Pemberton Legion. Since then, they’ve been working to get approvals from organizations like the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, the Village of Pemberton, the Ministry of Transportation, the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, the local Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Agricultural Land Reserve.
Early-bird pricing for the three-day festival is $239.50, which does not include camping, and there will be a special price of $199.50 offered to Pemberton locals.
Tickets go on sale through the festival website on March 28 at 10 a.m., and will also be available to purchase at Showcase Snowboards and Pemberton Valley Lodge.
