Police have recommended attempted murder charges for a 16-year-old Pemberton male after he allegedly attacked another teenager with a hammer, knife and baseball bat on Saturday, Nov. 9.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., Whistler Pemberton RCMP and Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at a Balsam Street residence in Pemberton. The alleged victim, a 16-year-old male, was attacked by another 16-year-old male before fleeing the residence, according to police. Bystanders assisted the seriously injured male, administering emergency first aid. The suspect was arrested by police outside the residence.
"Police would like to thank the members of the public who intervened in this incident and provided emergency first aid to the victim of the attack," read an RCMP release.
The victim was taken to the Pemberton Health Centre before being transferred to a Lower Mainland hospital. He has since been released from hospital. The press release did not indicate the extent of the victim's injuries.
The suspect, a Pemberton resident, was held in custody and is expected to appear in North Vancouver Provincial Court on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Police have recommended charges of attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
