Pemberton police say three men arrested this week could be linked to rash of thefts in Birkenhead area

RCMP asking residents in area to check for missing copper piping

Local police say there may be a link between a group of men arrested this week and a series of thefts north of Pemberton.

At approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, Pemberton RCMP stopped a vehicle on Highway 99, leading to an arrest of three men from the Lower Mainland for drug possession. Further investigation led officers to discover what appeared to be break-in tools and some stolen property that has since been identified and returned to a Whistler resident.

All three men were held in custody and transported to a court in North Vancouver.

In a release, police said they have reason to believe the suspects may have been involved in a number of thefts in and around the Birken/Birkenhead area, along Pemberton Portage Road.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to “check their property to ensure they have not been a victim of any offense (sic),” according to the release. Specifically, Mounties are asking residents to check their homes for any missing copper piping.

Anyone with relevant information on this case should contact the Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6634 or, to provide an anonymous tip, call Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
