The driver of a black Jeep Cherokee, which spun out of control and hit a pedestrian at an enclosed bus stop in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day has come forward to police.
“The people who were driving the jeep did come in today and speak with police and so there is an investigation underway to determine the factors surrounding it,” said RCMP Cst Afzeel Yakub of the Sea to Sky Policing Services Unit.
The 35-year-old man who was injured sustained deep bruising to the thighs and the chest.
The accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and took the pedestrian to the Whistler Health Care Centre for non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP investigators found a crushed B.C. licence plate at the scene.
The driver could face criminal code offences for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possibly dangerous driving.
