Go on a scavenger hunt, fold an origami crane or have your face painted — those are just some of the activities families can take part in as local provincial parks celebrate Parks Day Saturday, July 15.
Alice Lake and Porteau Cove provincial parks have events planned from mid-day to early evening to celebrate Parks Day, a national celebration of the role national, provincial and territorial parks play in our lives. Nature craft sessions and talks on How to Survive in the Sea and Talking Trees are also scheduled.
A kid’s art contest with prizes from Mountain Equipment Co-op and annual passes from B.C. and National Parks is also planned. Children are asked to draw an 8 ½ X 11 picture of healthy, active and fun activities. Winners will be featured in 2007 GoCampingBC guide.
Details of the contest are available at http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/misc/interp.html
