Children’s Art Fest Coming The Whistler Children’s Art Festival is looking for workshop proposals as it plans for its 15th year. Scheduled this year for Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, at the Myrtle Philip Community Centre, the annual event is a well-attended success. Workshops are from one to three hours long during the mornings. Classes are set for pre-schoolers, who can simply wander in a free-form format, a 5-8 age group and a 9-12 age group. Volunteer helpers for your workshop idea will be provided if needed. All workshop leaders are invited to a dinner on Saturday night. Workshops are required in the following areas: Literary — poetry, story-writing, journalism, etc. Music — instrument making, performance, composing, etc. Drama — puppetry, mime, acting, theatre-sports, etc. Dance — creative movement, folk dancing, etc. Visual — painting, sculpture, collage, drawing, printing, etc. Arts and Crafts — pottery, Native or ethnic crafts, weaving, basket weaving, etc. When inquiring about creating a workshop, provide a description of supplies you will need. Tom Jarecki of the Whistler Alpine Club is organizing the application and would welcome support from current Alpine Club of Canada members or prospective members. Call Jarecki at 932-6199 for more information. Meanwhile, the Alpine Club is leading a trip through the Tetrahedron March 29-31. Jarecki is the one to call for more information. A Monday ski tour is a weekly event organized by the Alpine Club. Call Eric at 938-9509 if you’d like to join in.
