More players announced for S2S Hockey Challenge

In the last week Burke has added Cliff Ronning, Doug Risebrough and "King" Richard Brodeur to the roster, which already includes Kevin Lowe, Ray Ferraro, Steve Tambellini, Steve Darling (Global TV), Jay Janower (Global TV), and Cam Bancroft (Beachcombers, 24).

The new Canucks GM, Dave Nonis, has also done some recruiting for this charity event. The Hollywood North Stars added musicians Barney Bentall, Matt Johnson (54-40), and Craig Northey (The Odds), as well as women’s Olympic hockey star Danielle Dube, to a roster that includes Jackson Davies (Beachcombers), Jyrki Lumme, Geoff Courtnall, Russ Courtnall, Bruce Courtnall, Mayor Larry Campbell, and Willy from Jack FM.

The general managers will continue to add players to the rosters in the next few weeks, including possibly some current NHL players that have been displaced by the ongoing contract dispute and lockout.

The two-game series, which takes place in Vancouver on Feb. 26 and Whistler on Feb. 27, is a fundraiser for PacificSport’s PodiumFund, which supports Canadian amateur athletes. The first Sea to Sky Hockey Challenge raised $20,000 for the PodiumFund.
