"The word was out a while ago, but the contracts were finalized making it official for us," said Mark Taylor, vice president of IMG Action Sports.
IMG is hoping to finalize the list of event sponsors and category sponsors by the first week of December.
Most of those negotiations are wrapping up, including the official beer sponsor for the event which will be announced on Tuesday. Although he couldnt say who was in the running, Taylor said the international scope of the event has drawn the interest of leading international brewers as well as Canadian brands.
In other categories, the interest has also been strong and Taylor expects to sign additional contracts next week.
"More are coming down the pipe," said Taylor.
The event organizers also made another major signing last week, booking K-Os, one of Canadas top hip-hop acts, for a show at the Telus Conference Centre on Saturday, Jan. 22. Tickets will go on sale next week said Taylor.
More festival entertainers will also be announced in the next few weeks, as well as details regarding the opening and closing ceremonies.
