Gilbert John Jolicoeur, 25, is one of the men suspected of killing Jeff Engen on Nov. 14.
An ex-Hell’s Angel named Billy Bowden was apprehended in Whistler in February, and is also a suspect in the case.
Two other men, 24-year-old Joel Braund and 27-year-old Matt Wegier have been arrested and charged with manslaughter in the case.
Engen was stabbed twice in the chest during a fight in the basement lounge of a Main Street Bar over a personal grudge that began a few years earlier.
Women’s shelter says Whistler RCMP bungled rape investigation
Louisa Russell of the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter accused the Whistler RCMP of botching a rape investigation against Fernando Manuel Alves, who is now accused of at least four sexual assaults in the Vancouver area.
The story appeared in the Vancouver Courier on Wednesday. Russell suggested that the police did not follow procedure in the case. Although she admitted not having all the details, she said the RCMP interviewed the alleged victim in 2005 while she was still drunk, didn’t provide a sexual assault examiner to collect physical or forensic evidence, or a woman’s advocate to sit with her when she gave her testimony to the police.
No charges were laid in the case.
Russell made the statements this week to mark the shelter’s 35 th year, and to call for changes to the way that rape cases are investigated and prosecuted.
