LIFTYS: MOVE UP TO THE GREEN LINE, PLEASE Every four years the world celebrates the Winter Olympics. While there is little doubt that the ski events are the highlight of the Games, behind the scenes are a sometimes-anonymous group of heroes who help ensure the races' successful completion. Lift Operations Specialists, or "Lifties", will get the respect they deserve during the World Ski & Snowboard Festival's third annual Lifty Olympics, a fun demonstration of the activities that these "athletes" perform on a daily basis. This year's events will be the always tough Maze Gate Haul, the stamina-and-endurance testing Snow Shovelling Challenge, and the all important End-of-Day Punch Out, with teams competing for the fastest times in each category. The Lifty Olympics take place on April 13, 5:30 p.m. at Blackcomb’s Base II.
