These six-week programs will be coached by Jeff Saager, the director of the Whistler academy. Saager was a professional golfer and has been an instructor for 20 years. He joined the Leadbetter organization in 1994, working at the LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort in Naples, Florida during the winter months.
"Last year we did a complimentary junior program to let people know that were here, and it was really popular, really out of control some weeks, so the kids are definitely into it," said Saager.
The junior programs he is offering are no longer free, but $249 for the 8-12 program on Monday afternoons from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and $299 for the 13-18 program on Tuesdays. They get underway on July 12 and 13 respectively, and run for six weeks.
"This is for kids that are pretty serious about golfing," said Saager. "Theyll have the cleats and clubs and will probably have played a few times, although you dont need a lot experience for this."
Both programs are limited to 12 participants, giving Saager a chance to work more closely with his students.
