Kindree makes it four for four in Squamish

Sandra Walter wins women's division at Just Another Bike Race

It was just another win for Neal Kindree at Just Another Bike Race (JABR) in Squamish.

Fresh off a narrow win at the BC Bike Race, Kindree owned the trails just below Garibaldi Provincial Park on Saturday. He completed the JABR course in two hours, five minutes and 16 seconds.

The win was the fourth Squamish event win for Kindree. He started the bike season by winning Orecrusher in May, the Test of Metal in June, and Gearjammer last month.

"It was wickedly fun," Kindree said of the race. "The trails themselves are amazing and they're not the most commonly used trails. This time of year you get on the trails people know and like and ride all the time, they are pretty beat up."

He said the trails that make up the course are difficult. According to Kindree, the JABR course is the most difficult and technical of all the races in Squamish.

"I would call it the cathedral of the Hell of a Series races," said Kindree.

Next up for Kindree is his first participation in the Fondo on Sept. 8.

Cory Wallace of Jasper finished the race in second place in a time of 2:11:13 while Kris Sneddon of Sechelt placed third with a time of 2:13:06.

Quinn Moberg of Squamish placed fourth overall and first amongst the competitors under the age of 20. Moberg's time was 2:19:02.

Jesse Melamed proved to be the fastest Whistler racer finishing seventh in a time of 2:21:03.

Sandra Walter of Coquitlam raced the course in two hours and 28 minutes. She beat Brandi Heisterman of Squamish, who clocked a time of 2:33:37. Ann Yew, who splits her time between North Vancouver and Whistler, finished third in just over two hours and 49 minutes while Rua Reed of Squamish just missed the podium with her fourth place finish in the Pro Elite group.

Top age group finishers from Whistler included Nina Arnold, Carl Goldstraw, Rick Reid, Tony Routley and John Blok.

Top Squamish finishers included Heather Adamson, Sam Bowerman of Squamish, Davey Mitchell, Eric Goodwin, Olivier Gendron, Troy Lynn, Chris Christie and Jordan Tesluk.

Pique requested an interview with Sandra Walter but she was travelling to the Chilcotins and didn't respond by the Pique's deadline.
