The proceeds from the hundreds of hot dogs served during the 2002 Joyride Bikercross event on July 3 was presented to the local Zero Ceiling program which provides mountain experiences to street youth from Greater Vancouver.
More than $700 was raised at the event for Zero Ceilings summer programs, which includes downhill mountain biking in the Whistler Bike Park for street youth and other disadvantaged youth groups. The bikes are provided by Peter and Ann at Whistler Bike Co, and Whistler-Blackcomb is providing free Bike Park Passes.
"Theres no way we would be able to run our programs without this incredible support from local companies," said Joanna Woods, the program co-ordinator for Zero Ceiling.
"When I phoned Peter, one of the owners of Whistler Bike Co., he agreed to help us without hesitation even though it is peak season for them. Also Whistler-Blackcomb have been year-round sponsors of our programs for years now, including our flagship snowboard instructor program."
