Services Society (WCSS) will be running its Interim Housing Project (IHP) for
young adults again this year, beginning on Oct.16
and ending Nov.
The program is partially
funded by the RMOW Community Enrichment Grant and WCSS.
WCSS will have 12 beds to
offer at $10/night, which includes dinner and breakfast. The residents must
vacate during the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The IHP is a safe place
for young adults new to town who are facing extreme housing challenges.
Participants can sleep and eat while during the day the WCSS Youth Outreach
Team will assist them in the search for long-term accommodation and employment.
If you are getting low on funds and are very
keen to stay and work in Whistler, this program may be for you.
Successful applicants will have a minimum of
$200 accessible to them and have exhausted all other sources for support
(friends, family, social assistance). Daily job and long-term accommodation
search activities will be required and closely monitored. A curfew and alcohol
and drug-free policies will be strictly enforced at the house.
The intake for the Interim Housing Project must go through WCSS Youth Outreach Workers Claire Mozes (email@example.com, 604-902-0670) or Davin Moore (firstname.lastname@example.org, 604-938-3902). Contact them for more information.
