The Inside Scoop tradeshow returns today and is geared towards bringing together local businesses and the frontline staff who make Whistler hum.
Co-organized by Tourism Whistler and the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the event will feature approximately 100 exhibitors from a number of sectors and is expected to welcome more than 800 attendees.
“We have representation from all of our business sectors,” Hallett said. “We facilitate what has become a really important resort-wide initiative that helps to connect all of our businesses with the employees who are having those one-to-one conversations with our guests,” said Jody Hallett, TW’s manager of visitor experience, in a release. “The tradeshow is important as it ensures that all of our frontline employees are educated on the resort offerings and are able to offer consistent information to our guests.”
With Whistler in the midst of a major labour shortage, Inside Scoop is perhaps more necessary at this point than ever. It’s geared towards anyone who works with resort visitors to enable them to learn all they can about the many businesses in town and what they offer.
“The Inside Scoop brings everyone together in one central location. Everyone here is involved in tourism and it’s important that we work together to deliver exceptional guest experiences and part of being able to do that is to make sure that you and your staff know and understand all of the businesses and what they have to offer our guests,” said Ryan Brown of Tourism Whistler member Coastal Culture. "At the trade show, we make sure we are connecting with the other businesses in Whistler and the employees who are talking to Whistler’s guests. And the flipside of that is that we want our team to also know what’s out there and what’s new.”
This year’s event is scheduled today from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Whistler Conference Centre. It’s free to attend.
