Two crashes on Highway 99 held up traffic on the route between Vancouver and Whistler this weekend.
The first involved a single motorcycle, which went off the highway about six kilometres north of Lions Bay, on Saturday, May 19. The southbound lanes were closed for a short time. The driver was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Just after noon on the same day two vehicles collided head-on near the Daisy Lake area. Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair reported in a news release that alcohol and drugs were not involved in the collision.
The highway was closed for hours so a helicopter could be brought to the scene and to allow police to investigate the crash.
According to information provided by the RCMP, a northbound vehicle drifted across the centre line and hit an oncoming southbound vehicle. Each vehicle contained two people. One person from each vehicle was flown to hospital in Vancouver. The other person in each car was taken to the Whistler Health Care Centre.
