In last week's article "CT scanner project finally going ahead," it was reported that the CT scanner construction project is worth $4.2 million. This week Marnie Simon, chair of the Whistler Health Care Foundation, clarified that while the overall project value is $4.2 million, the construction portion is only worth $2.4 million. Also, the foundation's other equipment contributions to Whistler Health Care Centre this year total $60,000 - not $600,000 as reported.
Also, in last week's article, "Tourism Whistler adjusting to financial crisis," the author noted that Tourism Whistler is "pushing back investment in new health and wellness, and arts and culture events." Tourism Whistler clarified that they do have a long-term strategy that invests in both areas, but they are temporarily holding back investment into new health and wellness, and arts and culture segments. They will continue to support existing events and segments.
