Fathers and junior socialites dance again

comment

Fathers, unlock your daughters’ societal ambitions and rhythmic potential at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Whistler dads will be there with belles on for the 10 th Annual Whistler Father/Daughter Dance, Saturday, May 10 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

More than 500 fathers and daughters attended the gala event last year, raising over $25,000 for both the Whistler Children’s Centre and the Myrtle Philip Community School. Organizers hope that this year’s dance will be even more successful.

The dance has become a special celebration of the bond between fathers and their daughters that leaves long lasting memories for the Whistler community.

Many generous donations have already been received and will be used for the raffle, silent and live auctions, balloon prizes, and surprise gift bags. Silent auction donations include such prizes as dinner for eight including wine donated by the Bearfoot Bistro; a two-bedroom condo in Maui for a week provided by Maui Condo and Home, a ResortQuest Company; and a Parent Pass and Sea to Sky Youth Pass for Winter 2003/2004 provided by Whistler-Blackcomb.

Tickets are $20 for fathers and $15 for daughters. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through the Whistler Children’s Centre or the Myrtle Philip School. Due to the popularity of this event, space is limited to girls who were 4 years or older on Dec. 31, 2002 (born no later than 1998), and to girls who attend elementary school in Whistler.

Volunteers from the community are needed for the day and evening of the dance.

If you would like to donate a prize or cash, or volunteer your time for the dance, please contact the Whistler Children’s Centre at 604-932-1119.

Other Platinum sponsors of the event are; Coast Mountain Photography, Cutting Edge Signs, Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Helijet International, Intrawest Resort Development Group, Nesters Market, Ryders Eyewear, Resort Reservations Network and the Westin Resort & Spa Whistler.
