Chili Thom a.k.a. Mister Fister – one half of dynamic DJ duo Super Secret, painter extraordinaire, B-Grade horror filmmaker and all-round ruler.
Five tracks I’m wrist deep in every time I’m on the decks these days:
1. Nice Up — Black Grass
"The perfect funky ska break. Guaranteed to get yer party started."
2. Eighth Wonder — Sugarhill Gang
"The ultimate old-school vibe, good to drop anytime. A party classic that will never die"
3. I like (Outkast Remix) — White Label
"Outkast is pretty much one of the dopest duos out there. This remix adds a bangin’ break and mind-bending loops to tantalize your eardrums and get your booty shakin’ on the dance floor."
4. I Think We’re Alone Now — Tiffany
"Laugh all you want. The production is tight and the break is definitely something fun to mess around with."
5. Super Secret White Label track
"This track is so f***in’ hot I have to get new needles every time I play it. Nine and a half minutes of serious from way back in ’83." Gets ’em groovin’ as soon as the beat drops."
What’s with all the ‘white label.’ Why so secretive?
"There are so many DJs out there these days buying records from the same shops. You gotta rock the ‘white labels’ in order to keep your shit different from the rest. Plus you get the goods years before they are on the shelf so you’ve played it out way before anyone gets a chance to play it."
