A heavy work load at the chief coroner’s office will likely delay the release of coroner Peter Gordon’s investigation into the Quicksilver accident until after the Thanksgiving weekend. Gordon said the chief coroner’s office is especially busy right now with, among other things, the inquest into the shooting deaths of nine people in Vernon last April. Gordon completed his report into the Dec. 23, 1995 accident earlier this month. The report will be made public once the chief coroner’s office has reviewed it. One man died and another was left paralyzed when four chairs fell from the Quicksilver line last December. A second man died later as a result of complications from the accident. Whistler Mountain is replacing the Quicksilver chair with a high-speed gondola by another manufacturer.
