Cornice release triggers avalanche at Chainsaw Ridge

No one injured, says WB

No one was involved or injured in a large inbounds avalanche in the Chainsaw Ridge area — on the west of the Jersey Cream Bowl — of Blackcomb Mountain on Tuesday, March 28 at about 3:30 p.m., reports Whistler Blackcomb (WB).

The avalanche was determined to be a natural cornice release above the slope, WB said in a release. Blackcomb Ski Patrol responded immediately with a service dog and search teams and determined that no skiers or boarders were involved, which corroborated what witnesses had reported.
