Conditions dry, but fire hazard remains moderate

comment

Almost two weeks of sun and record seasonal temperatures following a period of rain has not increased the fire hazard rating for the Whistler area past moderate, according to Whistler Fire Chief Bruce Hall.

"It’s pretty dry out there, but shorter days, dew, and higher humidity levels are keeping the rating down," he said Wednesday.

"It is still dry, however, so we’re still asking the public to use caution out there."

While fire hazards have been generally lower across the province, the fire hazard in some communities on Vancouver Island and in the Manning Park area is still rated as extreme.
