Whistler may get #1 slot from Condé Nast By Chris Woodall Whistler may have another #1 ranking to add to its trophy case — this time from Condé Nast Traveller magazine. Whistler was ranked second to Sun Valley by the carriage trade travel magazine's first stab at the ski resort survey biz, back in November, 1996. The winner is chosen by the readers. Last year 4,000 cast ballots to evaluate 160 resorts around the world they had visited in the past three years. At that time, says Chateau Whistler media relations guru Laura Fairweather, Sun Valley got a large photo spread, but everyone else got nothing more than a write-up. This year, however, Condé Nast has booked rooms in Whistler's largest hotel for late-March for the magazine's photographers and assorted extras. You don't get your picture in the paper for being second-best, so the suspicion is that Whistler will get the #1 resort worldwide nod from Condé Nast readers.
