More than a dozen key stakeholders in the corridor have officially added their two-cents in the search for the new head of the municipality.
The executive search firm Caldwell Partners has interviewed 13 people in the Sea to Sky corridor to ask about the qualities they'd like to see in a new municipal Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
The feedback was presented to council at Tuesday's closed-door meeting.
That level of extensive vetting is common practice for such a high level role, said Denise Wood, the director of human resources at the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW). She would not say who was contacted.
"It's just such a senior level position," she said. "(The CAO is) a key partner in the community."
Bill Barratt, current CAO, said he would continue working past his June 30 resignation date, if a suitable candidate has not yet been found.
The position is now posted online at www.caldwellpartners.com http://www.caldwellpartners.com . It states:
"As chief listener, collaborator, consensus-builder and innovator within the framework of Whistler 2020, you will foster relationships and build partnerships with internal and external communities, guide our ongoing journey towards sustainability and help direct our post-Olympic phase."
The job posting will also run for three weeks in the Globe and Mail , and is in Pique and the Question this week. Caldwell will also contact candidates from their own database.
"The CAO search process is well underway and council is eager to see the response to the launch of the advertising and direct appeal campaigns to be carried out by Caldwell Partners," said Mayor Ken Melamed.
"Stakeholders have been contacted throughout the community and several meetings with council have aided in building a candidate profile, process timeline and detailed strategy."
The job posting has no closing date.
Wood said: "It's open until we find the best candidate."
