If you dont count the 13 motor vehicle accidents reported from Dec. 25 to Dec. 28, it was a quiet Christmas for the Whistler/Pemberton RCMP.
During that time the RCMP attended four noise complaints, and arrested three males for being drunk in public.
There was also some encouraging news. The RCMP also set up a roadblock on Highway 99 between Lorimer Road and Village Gate Boulevard, and none of the 300 drivers that were pulled over were issued 24-hour driving prohibitions or were charged with impaired driving.
There is no word on New Years Eve activities as Pique Newsmagazine went to press prior on Dec. 30.
Ski and snowboard thefts pile up
The Whistler RCMP are addressing a rash of ski and snowboard thefts. Between Dec. 26 and Dec. 28 alone, the RCMP received reports of two pairs of skis and three snowboards stolen from the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain, a pair of skis taken from the Blackcomb Daylodge, one snowboard taken from the Delta Village Suites, and a snowboard and pair of skis taken from outside a Whistler residence.
None of the stolen items were locked up, and owners had left them unattended for less than 10 minutes.
The RCMP is encouraging people to lock their equipment, and to engrave ID information like drivers license numbers and names onto items. These steps will deter most thieves and make your gear easier to identify if it turns up.
