chapel update

comment
As the original planner of Whistler Mountain, Franz Wilhelmsen’s vision included a chapel for skiers. He remembered the little church on the mountainside in Norway where he skied as a boy. He wanted to build one like it at Whistler. It was decided that an ecumenical chapel was needed in Whistler for all local faiths to have a place to worship. Between Franz, a local group of skiers, and Garibaldi Lifts Ltd., a skiers chapel was built at the base of the mountain. Skiers were able to ski right to the door of the chapel at the end of their day on the slopes. Whistler Skiers Chapel Society and the newly formed Whistler Interfaith Chapel and Meeting Place wish to send a tribute to Franz Wilhelmsen and his family for his visionary plan for the needs of our community and the necessity to have a place to worship, to celebrate marriages and funerals and to offer a place for community events. The Wilhelmsen family has generously decided, in memory of Franz, to have donations offered towards the building of a new Interfaith Chapel for the Whistler Community.
