C trails open for season

After a Christmas delivery of 15 cm of surface snow, the Lost Lake Cross Country Trail system officially opened for the season on Monday, Dec. 27. Ten of 32 kilometres of cross-country trails and all 23 km of snowshoe trails were open at press time.

There hasn’t been enough snow to use the groomer, but the surface has been snowmobile groomed and track set for classic skiing.

"We’ve brought in about 17 truckloads of snow from Meadow Park arena over the last week, and with the snow we received, we were able to open… the Lost Lake Loop, Lower Panorama, lower Lower Panorama and Old Mill Road," said Roger Weetman, the RMOW manager of program services and community liaison.

More snow is expected this week, likely resulting in the opening of more trails and allowing the use of the regular groomer.

Night skiing is also available seven nights a week until 10 p.m. Day passes, starting at 8 a.m. daily, ,range from $4 to $10, and night passes (after 4 p.m.) range from free to $4, depending on your age.
